Vemma Reviews (591)

I didn't expect a crappy company like them to do the right thing. It was my fault. I should have looked at their reviews before purchasing. I would have seen that they only received one star, and I'm betting that they received that one star because it is the minimum. Thank you for your assistance.

you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee of $24.95 on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. The charge of $24.99 is for PeopleFinders Rewards program. This allows you to get discounts on the different reports offered on our website. We did not receive notification that you wished to cancel this within your 7 day trial period, therefore you were billed $24.99. You stated that you have already contacted your bank or Credit Card Company and filed a dispute. Often, due to the dispute, you are given a conditional refund by your bank; therefore we cannot offer you a refund. Please allow time for your financial institution to review the charges for validity. Usually this process will take a few billing cycles and they will notify you of the outcome via mail. You will now need to follow their policies and procedures regarding these charges.

We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. We have reviewed your account and found that you successfully logged in and closed it entirely on 5/24/2015. The most recent membership fee of $24.95 was refunded because you would not longer have access to the services. The previous months are non-refundable per the Terms you agreed to. Upon reviewing the phone call you are referring to we found that this was explained and you were offered a supervisor's voicemail in order to receive a call back as they were currently unavailable. You declined to leave a voicemail. In conclusion, you will receive one refund of $24.95 as a courtesy, your account is closed and there will be no further automatic billing.

Our records show you called our Customer Care department on 9/24/2015, the trial Membership you selected was explained to you and one refund of $24.95 was offered. You declined the courtesy refund offered to you. Per this complaint we will issue the previously offered refund of $24.95 for the most current month of membership, as a one-time courtesy. There are no further refunds available.

Since the business has refunded my money,as they agreed to,I would like to drop complaint #[redacted].

Per our Terms of Use the customer is not entitled to a refund. As a courtesy we are offering 3 refunds for $24.95 each. No other refunds will be issued

I reject the response from Peoplefinders because:They never addressed their unethical and unauthorized debit to my account, or their misleading and hidden “membership” charges, or their “bait” (with a $.95”one time search” that is not available except being) “switched” (to a three day trail that becomes a monthly charge if NOT CANCELLED) ALL of which are not disclosed on the pricing page.In their response, peoplefinder.com indicated, that I had two choices:1.)    “to accept a special discount price available with a monthly membership for $.95 (No mention of a monthly charge of $24.95 again)2.)    ..OR the full price for a search without member ship for $3.95”They said in their response that I selected the $.95 option. I am faxing a copy of my order form/pricing page with a $.95 charge. There is NO membership information after the total, as the response indicated there was.My pricing page does NOT indicated any information about a “membership” Or about additional pending monthly charges after seven days or my obligation to cancel a membership within three days of mu one-time purchase(?) Hundreds of customers have complained of the same hidden charges senerio. Finally, I quote ”Miss Manners” ([redacted]) in an interview for Smithsonian Magazine July-August 2011. In response to the questions: What etiquette breach do you most dislike? She said “the major etiquette problem in America…is blatant greet. It’s people who are scheming to get money and possessions from other people, and who believe that they are entitled to do so. The ancient practices of …(civility) are being undermined by this rampant greed.”I add my complaint to hundreds of others regarding peoplefinders.com (especially the hundreds of similar complaints on”peoplefinders.pissedconsumers.com”).Again, to resolve this complaint, peoplefinder.com needs to reimburse me (and others) for damages incurred by their unauthorized use of credit cards. They need to FIX their business model. They need to address the deficiencies in their business practices to reduce the complaints against them. They need to have a customer service department that is responsive to correcting the complaints against them. They need to MORE clearly and conspicuously correct their pricing page; They need to stop deceptive on-line marketing and “baiting”And finally, stop being a apart of the major etiquette problem in America today!

I am rejecting this response because:Your policies are intentionally misleading. You know people will be confused and you plan that they will not fight back. I talked with my credit card company and they said they get complaints about your business all the time. Face it, you are scamming people.

Please confirm the customer name, address and email address. We are unable to locate an account that matches the information in the complaint

I am rejecting this response because:  I did not receive any notice that told me that I would be automatically enrolled in a "automatic payment" using my card information at $24.95 per month.  If I did, this information was put in small print in a huge "agreement" that no one would take the time to read.  Why would ANYONE agree to pay $24.95 for looking up an address of a family member that lives out of state?  The fact that their voice recording steers you to an automated response to cancel memberships is a dead give away that they are preying on people who accept the "discounted" rate for an address look up but then intent to gouge them with automatic "membership renewals" at $24.95 per month.  If this was a ligitimate business practice, they would just bill you $5 (for example) for the address look up and not require you to enroll in a "automatic renewal subscription".  They clearly make their money providing an address and then hope to prey on unsuspecting victims that allow the 3 day grace period to expire and then they slam them with a "nonrefundable" $25 charge.

It clearly states on the purchase page that the trial is .95 cents and $2.95 for the cancelation fee. No refund will be issued. Please refer Mr. [redacted] to go back to the website to review our fees.

The customer called on 09/20 and we have already issued a refund for $24.95

I am rejecting this response because:  [redacted] is an out and out LIAR.  When I contacted PeopleFinders the first week of June, whoever I spoke to on the phone is the person that told me that she could see that I had cancelled in January.  I am disgusted that [redacted] is lying.  I don't have any concrete proof to show you that I cancelled back then, I just have the information that was given to me by Customer Service at People Finders the first week of June.  [redacted] should be ashamed of herself.  To the Revdex.com, I thank you for your time in trying to help me resolve this matter.  PeopleFinders is a scam and [redacted] proved it!

These charges have been refunded. Please allow 2-5 business days
