Per your requests over the phone on 5/6/2015, and as a onetime courtesy, we have granted one refund for the most current month of membership. Please allow 2-5 business days for the refund to process back into your credit or debit card. Your membership is also cancelled.

As stated on the description of the Background Report + Trial product you selected , if cancelled within three days you will be billed $2.95 for the trial. If the trial is allowed to renew it would have renewed at $29.95 per month for the membership. Your original purchase of $19.95 is not affected by cancelling the trial. We received your cancellation over the phone on 8/14/2015, within the three day trial period, therefore you were billed $2.95 for the trial on the fourth day. Again, the cancellation does not negate your initial purchase of $19.95 for the Background Report. As a one-time courtesy, the $2.95 fee was waved per your request over the phone on 8/14/2015. Please allow 3-5 business days for this to process back to your credit card. We are sorry that you did not receive the results you were hoping for. When you order a report, our system searches through billions of public records and collects every piece of relevant information. PeopleFinders pays for access to this data, so the charge is for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result. The customer purchased the report and $24.99 membership on 06/20/2014. Refunds have already been issued for $24.95 X 4. No further refunds will be issued. Per our Terms of Use the customer was responsible to cancel the membership ,which was canceled until 04/13/2016.

Per your request on 5/15/2015 we cancelled the automatic renewal of your membership.Given that members have access to unlimited searching and other features for a monthly fee, our Terms do not allow for refunds but simply allow users to cancel any time to avoid further billing. As we have already made a one-time exception and refunded a membership fee on this account in 2014 this time the charges are non-refundable.

I am rejecting this response because: My original purchase was for a 6 month membership at $4.95 per month for a total of $29.97; however, I was charged $59.70.  The limited time offer for a 1 month membership was $9.95 per month as opposed to the regular price of $19.95 per month, which was shown on the original paperwork I submitted with my complaint.  Peoplefinders.com is refunding me on $19.75 and saying that I am responsible for the remaining $39.95, which they claim is the cost of a one time comprehensive search.  I have cancelled my 6 month membership; however, still had unlimited usage for 1 month.  I appreciate the refund of $19.75; however, do not feel like I should be responsible for the remaining $39.95.  I would be willing to pay for the 1 month unlimited membership for the cost of $19.95, per the paperwork I originally sent with my complaint.  Since $19.75 has already been refunded, I would request that the remaining $20.00 be refunded as well.

Two purchases were made on this day by the same user. As there was also a membership selected by the user on 5/13/2015 an automatically renewing membership fee was charged on the fourth day 5/17/2015. PeopleFinders.com takes unauthorized use very seriously and have reviewed the multiple calls from you on 5/19/2015. We found that given the contradicting statements you made to the representatives they had a difficult time determining if someone else used your information to make this purchase on our site or you made the purchase and simply did not mean to sign up. Either way, the supervisor was eventually able to determine that you did not make this purchase on PeopleFinders.com. She attempted to advise you, during two separate calls within minutes of each other, that the registration information would be blocked and you should see a refund of all charges in 3-5 business days. As you were continually talking over the representatives during all phone calls this was difficult to convey to you. We feel this issue is resolved as the account was closed and a full refund was issued back to the card that was used by the user on PeopleFinders.com.

The customer purchased and used the membership. This has already been disputed through the credit card company and denied. No refund will be issued per our Terms of Use.

The system logs do not show the customer logging into their account and canceling a membership. We also do not have a record of them calling or emailing us for assistance. The most recent membership fee of $24.95 was refunded because you would not longer have access to the services. The previous months are non-refundable per the Terms you agreed to. Upon reviewing the phone call you are referring to we found that this was explained and you were offered a supervisor's voicemail in order to receive a call back as they were currently unavailable. You declined to leave a voicemail. In conclusion, you will receive one refund of $24.95 as a courtesy, your account is closed and there will be no further automatic billing.

I reject the response from Peoplefinders because:They never addressed their unethical and unauthorized debit to my account, or their misleading and hidden “membership” charges, or their “bait” (with a $.95”one time search” that is not available except being) “switched” (to a three day trail that becomes a monthly charge if NOT CANCELLED) ALL of which are not disclosed on the pricing page.In their response, peoplefinder.com indicated, that I had two choices:1.)    “to accept a special discount price available with a monthly membership for $.95 (No mention of a monthly charge of $24.95 again)2.)    ..OR the full price for a search without member ship for $3.95”They said in their response that I selected the $.95 option. I am faxing a copy of my order form/pricing page with a $.95 charge. There is NO membership information after the total, as the response indicated there was.My pricing page does NOT indicated any information about a “membership” Or about additional pending monthly charges after seven days or my obligation to cancel a membership within three days of mu one-time purchase(?) Hundreds of customers have complained of the same hidden charges senerio. Finally, I quote ”Miss Manners” ([redacted]) in an interview for Smithsonian Magazine July-August 2011. In response to the questions: What etiquette breach do you most dislike? She said “the major etiquette problem in America…is blatant greet. It’s people who are scheming to get money and possessions from other people, and who believe that they are entitled to do so. The ancient practices of …(civility) are being undermined by this rampant greed.”I add my complaint to hundreds of others regarding peoplefinders.com (especially the hundreds of similar complaints on”peoplefinders.pissedconsumers.com”).Again, to resolve this complaint, peoplefinder.com needs to reimburse me (and others) for damages incurred by their unauthorized use of credit cards. They need to FIX their business model. They need to address the deficiencies in their business practices to reduce the complaints against them. They need to have a customer service department that is responsive to correcting the complaints against them. They need to MORE clearly and conspicuously correct their pricing page; They need to stop deceptive on-line marketing and “baiting”And finally, stop being a apart of the major etiquette problem in America today!
